Professional Interests: Dr.
Cole, an Associate Professor of Community and Family
Medicine, is a biostatistician who specializes in the
use of statistical methods for evaluating risk factors
for disease occurrence and for evaluating therapies
used to treat cancer once it is detected. Dr. Cole
directs the cancer center's Biostatistics Shared Resource,
a group of faculty and staff available to provide statistical
support to NCCC investigators. This support includes
developing research study designs for clinical trials
and epidemiological investigations as well as conducting
analyses of the data derived from experimental and
observational studies. As a researcher, Dr. Cole develops
new statistical techniques for handling special challenges
in the analysis of data collected from patients participating
in clinical trials, especially data relating to quality
of life.
