Interests: Dr. Koestler is a biostatistician who came to Dartmouth from Brown University, where his research focused on the development and application of statistical methods for analyzing high-dimensional array-based genomic data. He is currently a post-doctoral research fellow in the Quantitative BioSciences (QBS) program, working with Drs. Margaret R. Karagas and Jason H. Moore on the development of bioinformatic and statistical tools for investigating array-based DNA methylation and 16S rRNA sequencing data. His methodological interests include feature selection in clustering, approaches for repeated-measures longitudinal array-based genomic data, and the modification of existing clustering methods to incorporate biologically important information. He is currently working on several epigenetic studies, where the objectives are to understand DNA methylation in the context of exposures and disease. Additionally, Dr. Koestler is working on the development of a metabolic set enrichment tool for analyzing 16S rRNA sequencing data in an attempt to reveal new insights regarding the human microbiome. |
